Duke Energy to Invest $3 Billion in Grid

With the devastation following hurricane Irma this past year, Ryan Mosier, a Greenville-based Spokesman sheds light as to why the energy company has decided to bury their lines in an article published in the earlier this month.

Mosier states, 鈥淚 would never use the words ‘hurricane’ and ‘help’ in the same sentence, but we have certainly learned with recent experience from Irma and Matthew. They helped add more information to what we were already planning 鈥 areas where we need to look at things differently.鈥

In addition to the $1.3 billion line burial project, Duke Energy plans to invest another $1.7 billion in a power/forward Carolina initiative to build a smarter and more secure grid for the future.

Irby’s “Spooktacular” Halloween

On October 31, the Irby family took a few minutes out of the workday to celebrate Halloween at corporate headquarters. The team gathered for a quick jolt of sugar and to cast their vote for the best, funniest, and scariest costumes of the day.

The Human Resources team didn鈥檛 disappoint with their yellow brick road and handful of Oz characters. In fact, it was Amanda Lott (Director of Human Resources) who won Best Overall Costume for her depiction of the Wicked Witch of the West.

Of course, it鈥檚 hard to compete with Pennywise, the clown from 鈥淚T,鈥 when it comes to what鈥檚 creepy. Tommie Gandy (Tools Foreman, Equipment) won walked away with the title of scariest costume for the day.

Last but not least, Bradley Allbritton (Tool Coordinator, Equipment) nearly stole the show with his impersonation of Irby鈥檚 own character, (Equipment Compliance) Bill Joy. Everyone got a kick out of Bradley鈥檚 costume, which was all in good fun and made for a great laugh.
